On a beautiful, sunny October 2nd, we drove to Waterton National Park to participate in a Family Fun Cycling Trip. Many families participated in the 30km cycling trip to Red Rock Canyon. The Park had closed off the road for two hours to allow the cycling event to occur.
When we arrived at 8:45am, we had the pleasure/anxiety of seeing a mother grizzly bear and her two cubs crossing the creek nearby!
Given the elevation of the park, we layered our clothing, but were happy to say we started taking off layers about 1/3 of the trip.
Refreshing break amid the breathtaking scenery.
Albert and Gideon reaching the mid-point 15 km! Both Peter and Gideon did the 15km in about 1 1/2 hours. We were very proud of Gideon's accomplishment for his first "real" cycling trip!! They were then blessed with a ride back in the Parks pickup "shuttle" bus. Albert and I were able to speed down the mountains, at speeds reaching 45km/hr (good thing I didn't know that at the time) and completed that in 1/2hr!
Peter here is assisting the drawing of names for the prizes.
BBQ lunch and snacks and water bottles were provided by the Park and Cycling Club of Lethbridge.
