An interesting catch!

The boys and I headed out for a late afternoon hike along the Old Man River. We started up the "Horse Trail" and immediately Peter noticed a discarded pop can so he picked it up to return to the bottle recycling company for the deposit money. He also returned to the parking lot area to obtain an empty "doggy refuse" bag from the dispenser to place the pop can in. (the bags are provided free of charge for dog owners!).

We turned down the "Picnic Loop" which meandered along the river, and observed picnic tables every 25' or so. Notice the erosion along the pathway which resulted from the high water levels this past spring. Post and cable barriers had fallen down the bank and into the river!

Beer cans pitched into the bushes were reflecting the sun and caught our attention. Peter retrieved a few, while Gideon continued along the pathway. To Gideon's great delight he came upon a "Jackpot" as he called it! Six or more cans were discarded beside the picnic area.

Our "doggy bag" was full, so we improvised and strung up our catch of the day.

An entrepreneurial method of fishing.

We continued on our hike and enjoyed the water and making new friends. We plan to spend more days at the river, with our watershoes, fishing rods, and sunscreen and bigger water bottles - it was 29 degrees in bright sunshine!
