In January we enjoyed learning about The Story of the Klondike Rush through a read aloud of "The Golden Trail" by Pierre Berton. It's a story of a mass movement of people in search of gold between 1896 and 1899, the events, trials and joys experienced. Gold seekers used dog sleds to push their gear onward over lakes, streams and mountain passes to reach the Klondike River and Dawson. The boys used their creativity to mimic the gold seekers.
A stroll (or shall we say 'climb') along the river.
Hockey game with friends on the River.
Olympic competitions -hockey and speed skating at the local oval.
Walking on water! ...well frozen water... a new experience for the boys!
