Lake St. Clair
Nature observation. Peter believes this to be a Great Egret. National Geographic's Field Guide to the Birds of North America indicates that it can be distinguished from most other white herons by black legs and feet which are slightly evident in this photo.
The Thames River - great for sailing "eco-friendly" boats...
...taking nature observation to a higher level
and marching to overtake the local native warriors in 1812
...and the boys favourite which they have named The "Billy and Blaze Trail".

New city, old home
Here we spend our days, enjoying God's blessings as they come down to us.
We've unpacked most boxes, packed the book shelves again, and are discovering new people and places. Our transitional home until we sell the other one.
A lovely spot on a sunny day.
Gideon displaying a book about migratory birds - our nature study this semester is birds.
Recently we visited a bird sanctuary where Canada Geese find a haven of shelter and food. Many years ago the sanctuary was set up to assist birds on their migratory pathways and to assist birds that were nearing extinction. The book Gideon is holding was written by Jack Miner himself "Jack Miner and the birds" - a lovely, living book of his life and involvement with birds (obtained at a local used bookstore :)
