A "Kni9htly" birthday party!
The lord of the manor and his knights.
Tyler, Peter, Noah and Gideon all smiles at his 9th Birthday party. The party began by designing crests for their shields. The knights played pin the sword on the knight. The lord of the manor judged whose sword was placed closest to the knight's hand.As you can see it required the precision of an analytical mind! The Knight Quest was a little more challenging involving horse riding, squire duties, and castle knowledge to reach the treasure. Tyler and Noah tied as winners and shared the treasure with everyone - evidence of real knights.A final game of dress up race was the most hilarous and fun for all!Noah and Peter played it a second time because they had so much fun!

Winter activities
Lots of snow to play in this winter -snow forts....
The boys and a neighbour built a bobsled course in the backyard with the hardpacked snow and tobagganed through the course from the carport to the back shed!
Skiing this year progressed well for Gideon. Here at during a field trip he began on the beginner hill....
...warmed up by lunchtime!
....then contemplating more serious runs! "Blast Off" is a black diamond run for uncles who are very experienced...so I managed to dissuade Gideon this time but on our next family ski outing he was taking all the little side jumps along the runs!
...and at home, he took up snowboarding in our backyard bobsled course!
...soft landing. He stuck to skiing and by Good Friday was doing blue runs at an elevation of 6300 ft. Peter did ski black diamond that day much to mommy's chagrin when it was relayed to me by telephone!!

Learning days!
Peter enjoyed playing floor hockey in the community this fall and winter. Often he was goalie which he preferred and did well at.Although our Botany study ended in November on the topic of roots, we commenced it again on Jan.6th by planting a tubular bulb (Paperwhite Narcissus). The activity was to force the bulb to think it is Spring! It worked :)
Both boys participated in the "Sweet Sounds" Violin Concert in February. Our neighbours were delighted to see the boys playing.
Our Science lessons have focused on Astronomy during the colder months this winter. Here is our activity on Mercury, a planet with many craters which we attempted to depict in this lump of dough. Gideon enjoyed pushing the marbles into the dough to create the craters.
